Bio
Felix Wilson joins the Marshalltown Community College men's basketball coaching staff in the fall of 2025. A native of Lexington, Kentucky, he is the son of Felix and Donna Wilson.
Wilson's basketball journey began at Henry Clay High School, where he graduated in 2015. As a player, he was part of two 42nd District Championship teams and was named to the 11th Region All-Tournament Team in 2015. He went on to play college basketball at Kentucky State University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Science in 2019. He was a two-year captain and a three-year starting point guard.
Before coming to MCC, Wilson built an impressive coaching resume at both the AAU and high school levels in Kentucky. His high school coaching career includes three seasons at Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington and one season at Montgomery County High School in Mt. Sterling.
At Frederick Douglass, Wilson served as the head varsity assistant under three different head coaches: Jason Mosley, Wes Scarberry, and Stephon Harris. During his time there, the program won three consecutive 42nd District championships. In his second year, the team also captured the 11th Regional Championship and made it to the state tournament's Final Four, the furthest the school had ever advanced, finishing with a school-record 33 wins and 3 losses.
In the 2024-2025 season, Wilson was the head varsity assistant at Montgomery County High School under head coach Jason Mays. He helped the team win the 40th District Championship, end a 23-game losing streak to rival Clark County, and win the 10th Region Championship for the first time since 2013. The team reached the KHSAA Final Four, tying the best finish in school history.
On the AAU circuit, Wilson has been a part of successful programs, helping to develop college-bound talent. He was an assistant coach for Team Manimal adidas gold 17U (2021-2022), where 10 of the 11 players went on to play college basketball, including "Mr. Basketball" Turner Buttry. As the head coach of Griffin Elite Wilson 17U (2023-2024), 9 of 10 players moved on to college basketball. Most recently, he was an assistant coach for the Midwest Basketball Club 16U 3SSB in 2025.
Over the past four years, Coach Wilson has been instrumental in helping 40 players transition to college athletics, with 19 of those coming from his AAU coaching experience and 21 from his time coaching high school.
