Marshalltown Community College's Cole Lindberg, a native of Buffalo, MN, has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week for April 27 – May 3.
Lindberg was a force on the mound this past week, making three vital relief appearances against DMACC and Northeast Community College. He began his impressive run by silencing the high-octane DMACC offense, pitching a scoreless inning and recording a strikeout, though the Tigers ultimately fell in that contest by a score of 11-3. He then proved to be the ultimate closer against Northeast, "slamming the door" twice to earn two saves for the Tigers. In his first outing against the Hawks, Lindberg tossed three scoreless innings while allowing just three hits; he followed that up with another clean inning in the second matchup, allowing only one hit to secure the MCC victory.
Supported by Lindberg's dominance in the bullpen, the Tigers successfully took two out of three games in their series against Northeast. The Tigers opened the set with a decisive 7-2 win before dropping a narrow 4-2 contest in the second game. However, MCC showed incredible resilience in the series finale, outlasting the Hawks in an 18-17 offensive slugfest to clinch the series victory.
