Tigers fall twice on final day of DMACC Invitational
Boone, IA- Despite winning the first set in both matches on Saturday morning, the Marshalltown Community College volleyball team suffered two losses at the DMACC Invitational, falling 3-1 to both North Dakota State College of Science and Iowa Central Community College.

Boone, IA- Despite winning the first set in both matches on Saturday morning, the Marshalltown Community College volleyball team suffered two losses at the DMACC Invitational, falling 3-1 to both North Dakota State College of Science and Iowa Central Community College.
NDSCS entered day two of the invite with a 25-1 record, having lost its first match of the year to host DMACC on Friday. The Tigers, who went 1-1 on the opening day Friday, shocked the Wildcats with a 25-22 victory in the opening set to take an early lead. The next two sets belonged to NDSCS though as the Wildcats defeated MCC 25-14 and 25-19. The Tigers had a chance to push the Wildcats to a fifth set, but fell in the fourth 27-25.
Freshman Alanna Dubberke (Cambridge, IA/Ballard) continued to play well at the net for the Tigers, posting a career-high seven block assists. Dubberke also collected six kills. Kayla Prosser (Eldora, IA/South Hardin) led the way with a team-high 15 kills for the Tigers.
MCC opened up the final match of the day with another close first-set win, this time a 25-23 victory over the Tritons. The scores reversed in game two as Iowa Central took the two-point win to even the match at one. The Tritons outlasted the Tigers over the next two sets, 25-17 and 25-18 for the 3-1 victory.
Prosser tallied 12 kills and six service aces to finish the weekend with totals of 14 service aces and 47 kills. Against the Tritons, Reeba Box (Liscomb, IA/BCLUW) registered 23 digs while Sam Hinrichs (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny) handed out 29 assists to go along with 18 digs.
Next up for the Tigers will be a home match against Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) foe Indian Hills Community College on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
