The Marshalltown Community College (MCC) Women's Basketball team started the regular season with a dominant sweep this past weekend, going a perfect 2-0. The Tigers secured two impressive double-digit victories to establish early momentum for their campaign.
MCC opened the season with a decisive victory over Milwaukee Area Technical College, winning 65-45. They followed that up with another strong performance, defeating Highland Community College - Illinois with a final score of 59-48.
The Tigers' early success was fueled by standout performances from two key players. Guard Jaeda Turner had an impressive debut weekend. She averaged a blistering 26.5 points across the two games, while also contributing on the defensive end with 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals. Inside presence, Kenijae Cherry, anchored the interior, controlling the paint on both ends of the floor. The Tigers will now look to carry this momentum into their next challenge at the North Central Missouri Classic in Trenton, MO. They are set to play St. Louis CC on Friday, November 7, at 5:30 pm, followed by a matchup with the tournament host, North Central Missouri College, on Saturday, November 8, at 2:00 pm.
