Marshalltown Community College Athletics is proud to announce that sophomore Olivia Heartwell has officially committed to continue her academic and athletic career at Salem University. A native of Anchorage, AK, Heartwell will be making the move to Salem, WV, to compete at the NCAA Division II level for the Tigers.
Heartwell's transition to the four-year level follows a productive tenure at MCC, where she established herself as a consistent and reliable presence on the court. During her year at Marshalltown, she averaged 6.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, proving to be a versatile asset in the lineup. She was particularly effective from the charity stripe, finishing the season with an impressive 76.4% free-throw percentage.
The move to Salem University also sets the stage for a competitive reunion, as Heartwell is set to rejoin former teammate Shenell Stewart. The duo, who previously shared the floor as Tigers at MCC, will look to bring that established chemistry and veteran experience to the Salem roster. The MCC coaching staff and athletic department congratulate Olivia on this achievement and look forward to following her continued success in the Mountain East Conference.
