Marshalltown Community College standout Shenell Stewart has officially signed to continue her basketball career at the NCAA Division II level with Salem University in Salem, WV. While she prepares for a new chapter in West Virginia, her time in Marshalltown has ensured that she will always be a Tiger at heart.
A native of Nassau, Bahamas, Stewart will graduate from MCC this spring before transitioning to the Tigers' program this fall, where she plans to major in business. Although she will soon be competing in new colors, the tenacity and leadership she displayed at MCC have cemented her place in the Tigers' history.
Over the course of her two years at MCC, Stewart significantly elevated her game within the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). During her recently completed sophomore season, she earned ICCAC All-Region 3rd Team honors after averaging 12.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. This followed an explosive freshman campaign where she was named to the All-Region 2nd Team, leading the team with 13.2 points per game alongside 6.8 rebounds and 2 assists.
MCC Athletics celebrates Stewart's commitment to both her athletic and academic excellence, noting that her skill on the boards and scoring ability will be a significant asset to the Salem roster. She leaves Marshalltown as a two-time All-Region selection and a cornerstone of the Tigers' success, carrying the Tiger spirit with her to the Division II level.
